Tommy founded Merkel Constructions in 1998 after a decade designing tall buildings across Europe, and holds a doctorate in structural engineering. Since then they have led the practice through more than six hundred commissions, from super-tall frames to fjord-spanning bridges, and still review every major structural scheme the studio puts its name to.
